چکیده

We propose a new protocol solving the fundamental problem of disseminating a piece of information to all members of a group of n players. It builds upon the classical randomized rumor spreading protocol and several extensions. The main achievements are the following: Our protocol spreads the rumor to all other nodes in the asymptotically optimal time of (1+ o(1)) log 2 n. The whole process can be implemented in a way such that only O(nf(n)) calls are made, where f(n) = ω(1) can be arbitrary. In contrast to other protocols suggested in the literature, our algorithm only uses push operations, i.e., only informed nodes take active actions in the network. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first randomized push algorithm that achieves an asymptotically optimal running time. Direction-Reversing Quasi-Random Rumor Spreading with Restarts

In a recent work, Doerr and Fouz [Asymptotically Optimal Randomized Rumor Spreading, in ArXiv] present a new quasi-randomPUSH algorithm for the rumor spreading problem (also known as gossip spreading or message propagation problem). Their hybrid protocol outperforms all known PUSH protocols. In this work, we add to the hybrid protocol a direction-reversing element. We show that this direction-r...

Randomized Rumor Spreading Revisited

We develop a simple and generic method to analyze randomized rumor spreading processes in fully connected networks. In contrast to all previous works, which heavily exploit the precise definition of the process under investigation, we only need to understand the probability and the covariance of the events that uninformed nodes become informed. This universality allows us to easily analyze the ...

Rumor Spreading of a SICS Model on Complex Social Networks with Counter Mechanism

The rumor spreading has been widely studied by scholars. However, there exist some people who will persuade infected individuals to resist and counterattack the rumor propagation in our social life. In this paper, a new SICS (susceptible-infected-counter-susceptible) rumor spreading model with counter mechanism on complex social networks is presented. Using the mean-field theory the spreading d...

Fast Fault Tolerant Rumor Spreading with Minimum Message Complexity

We study fault tolerant rumor spreading algorithms in the complete graph topology. Our focus is on algorithms that use minimum communication both in a global and local sense: they establish the minimum possible number of inter-processor connections in total, and in each round each processor is involved in at most one connection. The challenge is designing such algorithms that have an asymptotic...

Rumor Spreading on Percolation Graphs

We study the relation between the performance of the randomized rumor spreading (push model) in a d-regular graph G and the performance of the same algorithm in the percolated graph Gp. We show that if the push model successfully broadcast the rumor within T rounds in the graph G then only (1 + ǫ)T rounds are needed to spread the rumor in the graph Gp when T = o (pd).
